Truth

Not simply the type of truth as in, telling the truth; but seeing reality as it is, rather than as we see it. Being present, keeping the mind present, not allowing our thoughts to drift into the past, the future or second guessing what might happen. In the present we can find our true Self and that is where truth can be found.

The key to finding the true spiritual self is in living in a way that is authentic. Living with grace, without judgement of others, being kind, thoughtful and selfless. Love and peace is the way. Believing in something bigger than one’s self. Gratitude is a good starting point, being grateful for everything and expressing this to others.

For clarity, on the opposite end of a spiritual way of living, is selfishness, self centred-ness, being judgemental of others. Selfishness and self centred-ness are different.

Selfishness is more to do with not sharing with others, keeping it all to the self.

Self centred-ness is where you live with a focus on your own needs, wants, desires, aims; where you become the centre of all things, where your own feelings are more important than others, where others are excluded from your life to make way for what you, the ego wants. For a formal word to describe this self-centredness, egocentrism is the word, its essentially being self absorbed.

If one is looking for love and peace, it is not going to be found in a self centred world.
