Free or freedom?
What is the difference between being free and having freedom?
If we are free, this means we are free from our minds, our thoughts, whereas on the other hand, the freedom that most of us know; that freedom is “out there”. That freedom, is the ability to do as we please, to chase the worldly things, material things, the titles, promotions, praise, recognition, qualifications, money, to buy things, to collect things etc. However; none of this adds anything to us, but we can certainly become attached to these things in our mind and they can occupy our attention elsewhere, away from the present.
One’s ultimate aim is to be present (as much as possible), to observe the world as it is, not as we think it is. The nearer we get towards being free, the further we move away from the constraints of the constant craving of “freedom”, towards where peace, spiritual wellness, lasting happiness (not momentary thrill), love (unconditional) and joy are found and much, much more.
The “present” really is a gift in itself!
