A big con!

Control; the biggest con.

Many of us humans live by the fallacy of having control over our lives, control over every situation, every aim, every experience. In reality, there is very little, if anything we have control over. Striving for control brings immense pressure and stress. An apparent lack of control is the very source of much anxiety and stress. It’s when things appear to go “wrong” that we start to feel the stress building, the anxiety building up inside of us. It cannot be overstated just how much stress effects our health, immunity and wellbeing.

How could we have control over anything? Others do as they please, nature does what it does, the weather does what it does, the trains arrive when they arrive etc.

The world is a big place and we are but fragments of it. Billions of us. To think for a moment anyone of us can control what is happening across the world or more locally in our own lives at any given time is fallacy.

If one accepts that we are all on our own journey in life, a spiritual journey, that we are here to be tested, to go through the various stages of life. Jung describes these in 4 stages; athlete, warrior, statement and spiritual. Essentially from ego and senses driven, to a turning point and then through into wisdom.

For many, it’s only in the later stages in life that we see how futile it is (and has been) to try and bend the world to our will. As some would say, you usually become more chilled or wise as you get older having learnt many of life’s lessons, however, those on a spiritual path often get there sooner.
